Hi fellow Muirs/Moores/Moirs! I'm working on my Muir family history. My relative, Mary Jane Muir emigrated from Muirkirk, Ayrshire to either Boston or NY City around August, 1838 and married Benjamin John Whiting in 1855 in Fayette, Iowa. I'm trying to find out what ship she was on and who her parents were. If anyone knows of what records I should look up next, I'd really appreciate the help! Thanks so much! |

Hello Clan Muir ...........Isabella Muir was my 3rd gr-grandmother. She was married to Hugh Maxwell. I have no "documented" proof I am on the right path......but she was from Scotland and went to Nova Scotia. Assumed she died there. They were on Ligan Mines census in 1861, I believe.
