Clann Muir
WorldWide
Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow"You cannot speak of a Clann (children) without speaking of its motherland.
The motherland is the rock the children live on and die for.
This site is all encompassing (the whole picture) in that the history of Alba (Scotland) is covered so that the placement of Clann Muir within the motherland and her history, is securely rooted. The two histories are one, (every clann and its motherland are) and one without the other could not exist.
'One family, one heart, many chambers (clanns)'.

Stepping Stones Behind The Mist
From the word "Mordha," Gaelic for Noble, Stately, Majestic or Grand 'tis an ancient given meaning of the name 'Muir'. However, in the writings of | The origin and descent of the Mures of Rowallan| by Sir William Mure, knight of Rowallan, states the Mures were descended from the ancient tribe of O'More in Ireland. The name Muir is '20th century' accepted as coming from the Gaelic word 'Mor' as in living by a moor or a matter of size, large or 'big'. Fergus Mor son of Erc, King Of Scots, Dalriada around 500 AD The ancient Mordha is the 'root,' ie: foundation... and as such, the bottom line, fact and truth. History cannot be changed by changing a name or a words meaning? It only casts a veil over the right to be in truth. Welcome are you, to step into this mist of our past and fill your soul with the songs and stories of our clannsmen and women gone by and those still near and dear. Nay be your sighs for yearnings of yester-year, for their blood runs deep within us and leads us forward in honor of our heritage and the celebration of our life as a 'Muir' Scot. The legacy of past noble sires and stately women lives on through their heirs, and their spirits dance by light of shining moon.
Harken! Do ye hear the pipes calling you home? 'Tis the call of the blood so spoke to be, as a 'Muir' we welcome you back home, as a friend, we welcome you in. Note: Muirs of all spelling varients are acknowledged to have descended from the Pictish race of Celts, and were commonly in both Ireland and Scotland.
